Deep Dish Hamburger, Sausage, and Pepperoni Pizza Pie

Prep time: 20 mins | Bake time: 25–30 mins | Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • The Crust: 1 tube (13.8 oz) refrigerated pizza dough or homemade deep-dish dough.
  • The Meat Trio:
    • 1/2 lb ground beef (hamburger), browned and drained.
    • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, removed from casings and browned.
    • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni.
  • The Sauce: 1.5 cups thick pizza sauce or crushed tomatoes with Italian herbs.
  • The Cheese: 3 cups shredded Mozzarella or Provolone cheese.
  • The Savory Finish:
    • 2 tbsp melted butter.
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese.

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Grease a deep 9-inch cake pan or a cast-iron skillet with oil or butter.
  2. Press the Dough: Unroll the pizza dough and press it into the bottom and up the sides of the pan, ensuring the dough reaches at least 1–2 inches up the edge to hold the heavy filling.
  3. Layer Cheese: Place half of the shredded mozzarella directly on the dough (this prevents a soggy crust).
  4. Add the Meat: Layer the browned hamburger and sausage over the cheese, then pour the pizza sauce evenly over the meat.
  5. Top it Off: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the sauce and arrange the pepperoni slices on top.
  6. Glaze the Crust: Brush the exposed edges of the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and Parmesan cheese for a savory, golden finish.
  7. Bake: Bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown and the cheese in the center is bubbling and starting to brown.
  8. Rest: Let the pizza sit for 5–10 minutes before slicing to allow the deep layers to set.
