Ingredients

Fudgy Brownies

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder

Chocolate Icing & Decor

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp milk
  • Green piping icing (or white frosting tinted green with food coloring)
  • Candy pumpkins (candy corn pumpkins)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: Add the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently stir with a spatula until just combined and no flour pockets remain.
  4. Bake the Brownies: Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
  5. Prepare the Chocolate Icing: Melt the chocolate chips and butter together in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Whisk in the powdered sugar and milk until glossy and spreadable.
  6. Frost the Brownies: Spread an even layer of the chocolate icing over the cooled brownies. Allow it to set slightly, then slice the brownies into individual squares.
  7. Create the Pumpkin Patch: Using green piping icing, pipe fun, swirling vines and leaves onto the top of each brownie square. Place a candy pumpkin right on top of each square to complete your adorable autumn pumpkin patch!
