Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

Prep time: 15 mins | Cook time: 20–25 mins | Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • The Meat: 1.5 lbs ground beef or thinly sliced steak (like ribeye or sirloin).
  • The Veggies:
    • 2 large green bell peppers, sliced or diced.
    • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced.
    • Optional: 8 oz sliced mushrooms.
  • The Creamy Layer:
    • 4 oz cream cheese, softened.
    • 2 tbsp heavy cream or beef broth.
  • The Cheese: 8–10 slices of Provolone cheese or 2 cups shredded Mozzarella.
  • Seasonings: 1 tsp garlic powder, salt, and plenty of black pepper.

Instructions

  1. Sauté: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the beef (or steak strips) with the onions and peppers until the meat is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess grease.
  2. Flavor: Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Lower the heat and add the softened cream cheese and heavy cream, stirring until the meat and veggies are coated in a velvety sauce.
  3. Transfer: Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Top: Cover the entire surface with the Provolone slices or shredded cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted, bubbly, and just beginning to turn golden brown.
  6. Garnish: Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
