Ingredients
- The Protein: 1 lb ground beef and 6–8 slices of bacon (cooked and crumbled).
- The Grains: 2 cups cooked white rice.
- The Aromatics: 1 small yellow onion (diced) and 2 cloves garlic (minced).
- The Sauce:
- 1/2 cup ketchup.
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard.
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce.
- 1/4 cup beef broth (to keep it moist).
- The Cheese: 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
- Garnish: Sliced pickles or fresh parsley.
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: In a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with the diced onions until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
- Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Combine Flavors: Stir in the cooked rice, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and half of the crumbled bacon. Mix well until everything is evenly coated in the sauce.
- Add Cheese: Fold in 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese until it starts to melt and bind the mixture together.
- Melt and Crisp: Top the skillet with the remaining 1 cup of cheese and the rest of the bacon crumbles.
- Stovetop method: Cover with a lid for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Oven method: Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Serve: Garnish with pickles or parsley and serve directly from the skillet.
