    (mozzarella, cheddar, or mix)

🔪 Instructions

1️⃣ Prep the Potatoes

  • Slice potatoes thin (important for even cooking)
  • Optional: parboil 5 minutes, then drain (faster bake)

2️⃣ Cook the Beef

  • Heat oil in a pan
  • Add onion → cook until soft
  • Add garlic → 30 seconds
  • Add ground beef + seasoning
  • Cook until browned and juicy
  • Stir in tomato sauce if using

3️⃣ Make the Sauce

  • In a bowl, whisk milk + cream + flour
  • Season lightly with salt & pepper

4️⃣ Assemble the Casserole

Grease a baking dish, then layer:

  1. Potatoes
  2. Beef mixture
  3. A little sauce
  4. Cheese

➡️ Repeat layers
➡️ Finish with cheese on top 🧀

5️⃣ Bake

  • Cover with foil
  • Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 35 minutes
  • Remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes
  • Until golden, bubbly, and fork-tender

6️⃣ Rest & Serve

  • Rest 5–10 minutes before slicing
  • Serve hot with salad or bread

💡 Pro Tips

✔ Thin potatoes = creamy texture
✔ Cover first, uncover later for golden cheese
✔ Let it rest so layers hold together
✔ Add more milk if it looks dry while baking
