Meat-Lover’s Pizza Bread

Prep time: 15 mins | Bake time: 20–25 mins | Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • The Bread: 1 large loaf of French or Italian bread.
  • The Meat Duo: * 1/2 lb ground beef, browned and drained.
    • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni.
  • The Sauce: 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping).
  • The Cheese: 2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese.
  • The Savory Crust:
    • 2 tbsp melted butter.
    • 1 tsp Italian seasoning or dried oregano.
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder.
  • Garnish: Freshly chopped parsley and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan.

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the Bread: Slice the loaf of bread crosswise into 1.5-inch thick pieces, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom crust.
  3. Stuff the Layers: Carefully spread a small amount of pizza sauce between each slice. Layer in the browned ground beef, several pepperoni slices, and a generous amount of shredded mozzarella.
  4. Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush this mixture generously over the top and sides of the loaf.
  5. Bake: Wrap the bottom and sides of the loaf in foil, leaving the top exposed. Bake for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is completely melted and the bread is toasted and golden.
  6. Finish: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese.
  7. Serve: Pull apart the warm slices and serve with warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
